
Zaza Abzianidze (researcher) – chief scientist-collaborator of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, doctor of philology (1993), professor (1994).
At different times, he was the head of the Department of Philology of the Theater Institute, the editor-in-chief of the “Family Library” publishing house and the “Literaturnaya Georgia” magazine.
His books and scientific publications were awarded with several prestigious awards: 2007 – “Parnas” prize – for “Illustrated encyclopedia of symbols” (co-author – K. Elashvili);
2010 – Award “Gala” in the nomination: “The best publishing project of the year;
2015 – Grigol Kiknadze Prize of the Georgian Association of Comparative Studies in the nomination: “The best scientific article of the year”.
Among his publishing projects, it is worth noting: “People who changed the world” (52 volumes);
“Great Georgians” of Ottomei; Eight-volume “Georgian Vocabulary” (2010-2013).
He led two successful projects funded by the Rustaveli Foundation, published as separate monographs: “Georgian Romanticism – National and International Borders” (2010-2012) and “The Age of Liberalism in Georgian Literature” (2013-2015).
In 2013, as a participant of the international grant project of the University of Bochum, he was invited to hold seminars at the University’s Department of Slavic Studies.
