
Mary Khukhunaishvili-Tsiklauri is Doctor of Philology, Senior Researcher of Folklore Department of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, member of the British Folklore Society.
Field of her scientific research is Georgian Folklore and mythology, in particular, Georgian epics ( “ Amiraniani”, “Eteriani”), Georgian charms and riddles, typological study of magic tales. She translated British, Spanish and Basque folk tales in Georgian with introduction and Folk Tales International Motif Index . She edited in English “ Georgian Traditions and Legends”, “ Georgian Folk Tales’’ and the monograph of well-known Georgian Folklorist Elene Virsaladze “ Georgian Hunting Myths and Poetry”. Her work in collaboration with British Folklorist David Hunt “The Structure and Use of Charms in Georgia, The Caucasus “ was published by Palgrave Malcmillan in the International Research on Verbal Magic in 2009. She takes part in the International Symposiums held by Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature and Georgian Comparative Literature Association , proceedings of which are published. In July 2022 to the XXIII international Congress of ICLA she presented the paper “ Mito-Folklore Paradigm in Georgian Medieval and Modern Literature ( According to the prose Romance “ Amirandarejaniani “ by M. Khoneli and “ The Cry of the Goddess “ by Grigol Robakidze”). Her works are also published in Annual Scholarly Review “ Literary Researches “ and in the periodical “ Georgian Folklore” of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature.
In 2000 she was awarded with the Presidential Order of Honor .
