
Maia Kiknadze is a Georgian theatre historianand theatre critic. She is an associate professor at Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Tbilisi State University. She delivers lectures on the history of Georgian theatre, the history of puppet theatre, theatre criticism and theoryand the history of directing.
Herfield ofinterest covers the issues on the relationship between Georgian Soviet-era theater and Soviet censorship.
She has published a monograph on Nato Gabunia, a famous Georgian actress of the 60s of the 19th century, where is discussed the role of woman and her importance in the theatrical life of that time. She cooperates with the magazines: “Art Science Studies”, “International Journal of Arts and Media Researches”, “Art of the 20th Century” and publishes various papers, including interpretations of performances of plays by German expressionist playwrights (Kaiser, Werfel, Toller, Hasenclever) on the Georgian stage.
She has published multiple critical reviewson performances and covers current processes in Georgian theater.
She is a member of the Comparative Literature Association (GCLA).
