Maia Jaliashvili

Maia Jaliashvili is a Georgian literary scholar and writer. She is a Professor at Georgian American University and a Leading Research Fellow at the Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature. She lectures on “Recent Georgian Literature”, “Georgian Literature in the Context of World Literature”, and “Galacticology”. She is a member of the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA).
Maia Jaliashvili’s main research interests include literary history, literary theory, and general and comparative literary studies within a broad cultural context. She also focuses on Realism, Modernism, Postmodernism, and the revision and analysis of literary processes during the Soviet and Post-Soviet periods. Her works analyze both classical and contemporary world and Georgian literature. She is the author of more than two hundred academic articles and participates in local and international conferences and projects.
She is the author of several monographs, textbooks, and over 200 scientific articles, and is a member of Georgian professional organizations and associations. She participates in international scientific projects and conferences. Among her distinguished books are the monographs Sandro Tsikrekidze and Georgian Symbolism and Georgian Modernistic Novels, and the collections of literary articles The Secret of Life, Meeting in the Book, and Transformation of Morals. She is also the author of a collection of poems, short stories, parables, and diaries.
She has received several scientific awards in Georgia, including the Muza Literary Prize (2024), the Saguramo Literary Prize (2019), the Grigol Kiknadze Scientific Award (2012), and the Aleksandre Orbeliani Award in Literature (2003). She was also awarded the title of Best Trainer at the National Center for Teacher Professional Development (2014).
