
Grigol Jokhadze is a Georgian historian, literary scholar, editor and translator.
Dr. G. Jokhadze is a Professor of Ilia State University (Tbilisi). He is a member of the Georgian Comparative Literature Association (GCLA).
The major field of Grigol Jokhadze’s scientific interest includes The History of Georgian, Russian, Soviet and the European Literature, general and comparative literary studies in a broad cultural context.
In 2023, by Publishing House Pegasus, was published his book Osip Mandelstam: Living as dying, Illustrated Biographies, and by Ilia State University Press – Mandelstamiana, Fragments from the Cultural History of Russia and Georgia.
He has received several scientific awards in Georgia, among them: PRIZE IN LITERARY TRANSLATION – SAGURAMO – 2020; THE FIRST PRIZES IN LITERARY TRANSLATION – MICHAEL TUMANISHVILI FOUNDATION – 2023, 2024.
He is an author of several monographs, textbooks and more than 100 scientific articles, member of numerous international professional organizations and associations, more than 10000 translations of literary texts.
Grigol Jokhadze is the scientific editor of the Georgian versions of the internationally well-known books – Literary Theory: A Very Short Introduction 2nd Edition by Jonathan Culler and History: A Very Short Introduction by John H. Arnold.
He is a Member of Editorial Board of Scientific Journal “A Man in Social and Cultural Dimension” and a Member of Editorial Board of Scientific Journal “Semiotics”.
