Maia Tsertsvadze is a Georgian scholar and translator.
She is an Associated Professor of Georgian Technical University.
The major field of Maia Tsertsvadze’s scientific interest includes: Georgian literature and history of Georgia of the 19th-20th centuries, issues of Georgian emigration and poetical studies.
In 2019, by the publishing house ‘Meridiani‘ was published her monograph: The Social Environment of the First Half of the 19th Century According to the Epistolary Heritage of Nikoloz Baratashvili (New Aspects, Research, Analysis) (topic of her PhD thesis). She is also an author of the monograph: Image-Characters of ‘Jako’s Dispossesis’ – Prototypes and Genesis (‘Artanuji’, 2024).
She prepared for publication and attached scientific apparatus to the books: Nikoloz Baratashvili. Personal Letters (2015), Babo Sharvashidze. Memoirs (with her own translation from English) (2019) and Elisabed Eristavi. Memoirs (2022) (all were published by the publishing house ‘Artanuj’).
Among Maia Tsertsvadze’s literary translations are: the novel The Summer Before the Dark by Doris Lessing (‘Intelecti’, 2017) and two collections of short stories by O. Henry, Sh. Anderson, F. Fitzgerald and Th. Wolfe (‘Artanuji’, 2013; ‘Intelecti’, 2018), also the works by R. Kipling and A. Huxley.
She is a participant of many international and local scientific conferences and forums.
She has published about 80 scientific works and articles.
In 2015 she was awarded the prize ‘Year Translator’ of the literary journal ’Chveni Mtserloba’.
